Table of ContentsIntroduction
IntroductionThis particular page will guide you through the process of setting up Data Manager Portal to run in a server/client environment, so that you can run the Data Manager Portal on a DMP client computer, and GenWS/ESB/ETL+/BDA on a remote server. This functionality will only work with Data Manager v3.15.04202 or higher.
At first we want to install the packages on both of the systems. The server (I will be using "SERVER" as example) will need the entire Data Manager, except for the Data Manager portal. (see Figure 1)
Take note that if you already have installed the entire package on the server, the only thing you need to do is disable the S4M DMPortal Server service.
DMP ClientFor the DMP client ("CLIENT" will be used as example for this document), we only need to install the Data Manager Portal, not the rest of the package. (see Figure 2)
When the installations are complete, it's time to configure the DMP Server to send its data to the server.
ServerThere is no need to configure the server to enable remote connections, but be sure that you know which ports the software is using (the default ports will be used in this document as example)
DMP ServerTo configure the DMP Client we will need to edit the DM Portal configuration file. This file is found in S4M_DM\DMP\BIN and is called S4M.DMPortal.exe.config. You can edit this file so that it’s nearly identical to the one shown below (figure 11), but be sure you have entered the right ports. Be sure that the OIPServerUrl en WFAdress are referring to the server (SERVER in this example)
When you've committed these changes, start/restart the S4M DMPortal service on the DMP Client.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <configuration> <appSettings> <add key="BaseAddress" value="http://CLIENT:8820"/> <add key="OIPServerUrl" value="http://SERVER:4512/"/> <add key="WFAddress" value="http://SERVER:8804"/> <add key="WFUser" value="admin"/> <add key="WFPassword" value="<password>"/> <add key="SiteRoot" value="C:\S4M_DM\DMP\Client"/> <add key="AlternateImages" value="C:\S4M_DM\DMP\Icons\Datamanager"/> <add key="DataFolder" value="C:\S4M_DM\DMP\ClientData"/> <add key="ClientSettingsProvider.ServiceUri" value=""/> </appSettings>
How do I test this functionality?Be sure that all the services are running on both the server and the DMP Server. First off, create a Workflow in ESB on the server. If you're not sure how to do this, this page will help you out. Open up the DM Portal on the DMP Server and log in with the credentials you've defined in the installation. After creating the Workflow, you can use the DM Portal on the DMP Server to view and execute the Workflows that you made on the server. (see Figure 3 and Figure 4)
Figure 3Figure 4 shows the output in DMP when the workflow has been completed.
